What is

Platelet Rich Plasma

Therapy?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a type of therapy that uses a patient’s own blood to promote healing and tissue regeneration. The blood is first drawn from the patient and then processed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, which contains a higher concentration of platelets and growth factors than whole blood.

What conditions does it treat?

PRP stimulates collagen and elastin production to improve skin conditions:

The Platelet Rich Plasma procedure:

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a medical procedure that uses a patient’s own blood to promote healing and tissue regeneration. The procedure involves the following steps:

  1. Blood sample collection: A small amount of blood (usually around 30-60 ml) is drawn from the patient’s arm using a sterile needle and syringe.

  2. Blood processing: The blood sample is then placed in a centrifuge machine, which spins the blood at a high speed to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other components of the blood.

  3. PRP injection: Once the PRP is isolated, it is injected back into the patient’s body at the site of injury or tissue damage. The injection can be performed using ultrasound guidance to ensure accurate placement.

  4. Post-injection care: After the injection, the patient may be advised to avoid strenuous activities and rest the treated area for a few days. Pain relief medication may also be prescribed, if necessary.
